Nielsen Design grows its multi-channel business with Sage X3 and Intellisell

Nielsen Design Limited, based in Norfolk is part of the fast-growing international business, NBG Home Group. Its UK roots began over 20 years ago distributing ready-made picture frames to high street galleries. Since then, it has expanded by adding home décor products to its portfolio, and operations span across Europe, the United States, and Asia.

The UK received authority to invest in a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution and to upgrade its ageing Sage Line 500 software to a modern, fully integrated system.

With its German-based headquarters and French office already utilising Sage X3, it made sense to choose Sage X3 in the UK to minimise disruption and provide business continuity.

Darren Woodrow, IT Manager from Nielsen Design, explains. “Our finance team needed the flexibility to better support the current Nielsen Design infrastructure. We also needed to future-proof strategic vision and initiatives. We approached CPiO for Sage ERP expertise. They proposed Sage X3 to modernise our operations and give us additional business intelligence in a flexible, more granular form than previously available."

Nielsen uses Sage X3 for its stock modules, sales orders, and financial management. Darren adds, “We can access customised dashboards in real-time to deliver an enhanced customer service to the traditional high street galleries.”

Sage X3 has a product design module with integrated features and tools for managing designs for new products and assemblies. As well as the production of prototypes.

“The advantages of Sage X3 are endless. Customers can gain access to information about the order status, including parts dispatched, and parts invoiced, or if an item has been picked, dispatched, and invoiced. From a finance perspective, we can import sales orders from a text file and transfer large quantities of sales orders in one go, which saves us a lot of time and resources.

We have been able to better manage our core business processes and execute our workflows faster. Sage X3 has also helped Nielsen improve our collaboration and reporting, whilst being able to deliver real-time insights into costs and performance across the whole organisation.”

Nielsen’s relationship with CPiO

Speaking of the experience of working with CPiO, Darren says, “CPiO has been instrumental in helping us to maximise the potential of Sage X3, recently upgrading us to the latest version to take advantage of new features. We have a close working relationship with the CPiO team. They are always very helpful and have assisted us through the planning and testing stages for this new upgrade. Since installing Sage X3, Nielsen has invested in Intellisell eCommerce, an integrated ordering portal, developed by CPiO. This gives its wholesale and trade customers the ability to buy and interact online, self serving many of their own account queries.

What will the future bring?

Darren concludes, “Nielsen will continue to take advantage of the new features and enhancements that the latest version of Sage X3 brings to the company. The improved user interface will help to support faster navigation, and improved all-round performance, for our customers and staff.”
