Longstanding CPiO customer, CAME continues to modernise to drive long term growth

Longstanding CPiO customer, CAME continues to modernise to drive long term growth

Derby-based CAME is the leading manufacturer of automation systems for residential and industrial entrances, car parks and access control. Owned by the Menuzzo family, CAME S.p.A., is a global company employing over 1,400 people and operates in more than 110 countries.

A long-term user of Sage, CAME first implemented Sage 200 Professional in 2007 migrating away from Sage 50. Recently, the company, once again, turned to its Sage Business Partner, CPiO to instigate a refresh of some core functionality to support its expansion plans across two new trading divisions and a new site based in Scotland.

CAME was looking for a new solution that could handle the diversification and distribution of its manufactured products. With multi-warehouse and multi-currency operations, the current Sage 200 configuration was beginning to affect performance.

CPiO worked with CAME to identify and understand the increasingly complex requirements of manufacturing and made the recommendation to implement CIM200, an advanced manufacturing solution designed specifically for the Sage 200 Professional user. Dave Lee, CPiO’s Sage 200 Manufacturing Specialist comments. “The challenges experienced by CAME were clear from the outset. The company couldn't easily see or control each stage of its manufacturing process, which was leading to inefficiencies and low productivity. The company has some fairly complex products to manage such as Apex Entry Door Systems, which has over 500 stock items. We identified that the CIM200 product could cope with the demands of such a product and because CIM is fully integrated into Sage 200, it has a similar look and feel to the core product, making it ideal for existing users to get to grips with.” CPiO further enhanced the solution by configuring the software more specifically to the needs of CAME.

Christian Marron, a CPiO Support Consultant was part of the project to help CAME customise Sage 200. “CAME’s manufacturing process required information from each Sales Order line to be unique to the parts they are manufacturing and purchasing. This required some bespoke automation that transferred the Sales Order Line data to the linked Purchase Order lines for manufactured parts. We created automated routines that run in the background that copy lots of data across through to the purchase orders and works orders to give CAME a more streamlined workflow and improved visibility of the manufacturing process and parts.” As part of the solution, CPiO identified that Eureka Data Exchange would be highly advantageous to CAME to improve the data import function and saving CAME employees valuable time in manually importing.

Craig Smithurst, Information Systems Manager at CAME, comments on how efficient Sage 200 is for CAME. “We really have started to see the power that Sage 200 offers a growing business such as CAME. The enhanced functionality of CIM200 for our manufacturing processes and Eureka for better data management has given all of our users a significant boost in visibility and has improved our efficiency as a business”. Most recently, CAME has expanded its operations into Scotland with a new 30 user site, Entrotec. CPiO has worked closely with the Entrotec team to bring its operations into the fold to experience similar advantages.

“We now have greater control of our manufactured products. Having full visibility of our works orders, planning and shop floor has really improved the accuracy of our reporting and speeds up a lot of our processes. For example, saving an order, allocating a stock, and printing an order acknowledgement, can now be done in one click, bringing tremendous gains to the team,” adds Craig. “In CPiO, we have found a partner that understands us and works to help us optimise our Sage performance. We have a great relationship with our designated Support Consultant, Christian. He is really attentive and has a real eye for detail, which is important when you have so many moving parts. He has been instrumental in helping me and the team here”.

Finally, Lorraine Parkes, CPiO Account Manager for CAME adds, “I have a brilliant working relationship with Craig and his team at CAME. He knows he can pick up the phone to CPiO at any time and we are there to support him. Seeing a customer use technology to help drive change is why we are here”.
