Top 10 tips for getting the most out of Sage Intacct

Top 10 tips for getting the most out of Sage Intacct

Sage Intacct is the leading cloud-based financial management solution. If you are a Sage Intacct user you’ll already be benefitting from automated business processes, real-time reporting and 24/7 access to your data. But to ensure you get the very best return on your investment, we have compiled 10 tips to get the most out of Sage Intacct.

1. Use all of the modules included in your Sage Intacct subscription

The standard Intacct modules are:
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
Purchasing
Order Entry
General Ledger
Cash Management

2. Utilise the API or CSV data imports

Save time and eradicate human error by eliminating manual data entries or single mass imports. Importing data into Sage Intacct from third party systems can also be automated via APIs.

3. Plan a quarterly release notes review with your team

New features or software enhancements may require additional permissions to be enabled. Scheduling regular internal team meetings will ensure everyone is up to date with the current functionality.

4. Subscribe to a Sandbox

The use of a sandbox company environment is a best practice for training new users and testing new workflows and integrations. The sandbox is a non-operational copy of your company removing any risk in your production environment.

5. Set up Statistical Accounts to track non-financial data

Setting up statistical accounts such as employee headcount, number of members or even the number of rooms in a hotel allows you to track key metrics in this type of account. From here you can perform sophisticated analysis in financial reports, such as calculating revenue per employee or advertising expenses per member.

6. Create Dashboards

Your dashboards are where you monitor and access the most important aspects of your business.
In Preferences you can set Intacct to open to your most relevant dashboard, like a home page. You can then create further dashboards consisting of components to show snapshots of different aspects of your business, such as:
• Performance cards
• Reports
• Graphs
• Shortcut links
• Lists – customers, invoices, locations, etc
• Calendars
• News feeds

7. Use Checklists to provide visibility into business processes

Assign tasks as required with Sage Intacct Checklists. Get started with your checklists by visiting the Intacct Community where you can view sample checklists here.

8. Enable GL Outlier detection

Be sure to take full advantage of Sage Intacct’s AI capabilities and get alerted to unusual entries prior to month end. Prevention is a lot better than cure!

9. Create Smart Rules in Platform Services

Smart Rules or Smart Events enable you to build compliance into your business processes.

10. Get Training

Speak to your CPiO account manager about any new or refresher training requirements you have. And remember, the Sage Intacct Community is a fantastic resource centre and place to engage with fellow Sage Intacct users.
